In the Name of Love #4 (R. Kelly Comics)

In the Name of Love (R. Kelly Comics) #4

For whatever reason this one made me laugh. A lot. I think it's because in each frame the lyrics are read in reverse of how they appear in the song. Panel 4 drives it home for me every time.

Anyways...

"I gotta go ya'll, but before I go there's one thing I wanna know. Turn the radios off, listen. Are you cummin.? Oh I gotta know. So I can meet you there."

All that Heaven Allows

Reading Thoreau at Walden helped me think about some of the foundations I've chosen for my life these past few years. Many of them are based in fantasy, theory, dreams, entertainment and probably most importantly movies. Oftentimes, this is all good but lately I've been trying to achieve a simpler relationship with daily existence. Just trying to eat some food, reconcile these two worlds, hopefully for everyone's benefit.

So, to help me do this, I've been drawing journal comics. Trying to keep track of the days and reflect on the major things I've done, both trivial and important, or I guess more accurately, trying to figure out when an event is either of these things. Something I've found difficult to get right in New York.

If you know me, you'll know that I love this man's music. According to the internets, he's my most listened to artist of the last 6 years. Now I'm not trying to be rude. This is my attempt to do something productive with all that listening. So speak now, or forever hold, your body.
